alarm key

Hi Every1, I have a 89 520i and im looking to track down a remote alarm key fob so i can reprograme the alarm etc. I've seen lots of these alarm key fobs on ebay etc and im wondering would the 3 button alarm key fobs that were made for bmw models such as bmw e39, e36 etc work on a 89 e34?

Those fobs are specific to the BMW/Alpine port-installed units for the North American market to the best of my knowledge. What type of alarm system do you have?

i have the factory fitted alarm but without the fob and im looking to track down a fob on ebay that would work with the factory fitted alarm system on the e34, only one's i seen to find are the 3 button fob's thats from a bmw 5 series e39 and a e36 m3

At least for me you'll have to be more specific as in the U.S. we had no "factory" alarm. What was sold here as "Factory" is a re-labeled Alpine with the BMW name on it and they came with a one-button (early) fob and a three-button (later) fob. Do you have a picture of your old fob? Maybe a photo of the control unit if not the fob? And where are you located?
