was some kind of molded plastic ended one from Mann.

it worked the same, but I don't have that plastic do-dad adapter.

Plastic... the redesigned it because of loss of oil pressure upon startup. That insert keeps oil in the filter rather than to let them drain out. I still have one metal filter that I bought by mistake... u want it?

no. the metal ones WILL NOT fit in the oil filter container designed for plastic filters.

So when did this all take place? What should I expect to find in our new 95 525iT? I was planning on dumping the oil this weekend & have a Napa filter with metal ends. Should I wait until the filters I ordered from BMA arrive & just return this one?

it really matters if it was upgraded with the plastic insert. unscrew the top of the filter and see which kind you have, nothing to leak out or anything.

For 540i engines, you can buy the plastic insert that goes on that middle tube and then you can start using that plastic top filters.

Has anyone here had a problem when using the metal ones?
