View Full Version : Are these Ireland Engineering fixed camber plates?

I got them from BMA. They go between the McPherson strut and the body of the car. I'm just having a hard time visualizing how they go on. The back and the front look almost the same. One side has longer threads.

Thanks for the responses guys. I only know of two members here running them and Jeff N gave me the lowdown. Here was his answer verbatim;

Hi Kris,

They look like IE fixed plates. They are really easy to install; here's what you need to do.

- remove the strut
- on the top of the strut bearing, spin the nuts back on to 3 bolts.
- take a hammer and carefully rap down on the bolts until they back out of the strut bearing mount. They have a knurled press fit and they'll just tap down.
- remove the bolts, you'll need to rotate the bearing a bit to work the bolts away from the top of the spring
- put the camber plate on; the short bolts go down into the strut bearing
- use the nuts to tighten down the plate to the bearing
- replace the strut

If you want, and haven't already done so, you can also install 3mm spring pads at the same time to replace the factory 9mm pads. This will mitigate the added nose height you'll get with the plates. Of course you have to compress the spring to do that...

Cheers,

Jeff
