OK Ive chipped(JC) my 535ia and put in a cold air intake and still lost to a Ford focus SVT is this normal? P.S. he said his car was stock.

The automatic is prolly what killed you

His stock 0-60 time is about 7.5, while yours is about 8.7.
Him:
170hp @ 7000
145lb-ft @ 5500
2750lbs
You:
208hp @5700 (sure, give yourself bonus points for the mods)
225lb-ft @ 4000 (same)
3615lbs
Now, if you were on certain roads in the U.S. or Germany, you would likely have overtaken him at some point a ways over the U.S. speed limit and stayed well ahead of him (including your top speed of 142+ compared to 135 for him).
Then, there's the cornering factor. And the comfort factor. And your car is less likely to be a goofy color. I bet those SVTs are a blast though.

Crap, Oh well. I think EVERY one of us would still rather be driving the E34. Because even if I lose.....he still has a ford focus and I still have the Bimmer.

Your power/weight ratio is a little worst than the Focus, too. His can might have beat ya on the straightaway, but if I ever got in an accident... let's just say, I'd rather deal w/ the extra 1lb/hp in the bimmer.
