you get a new one ...no questions asked.....I bust a lot stuff, I am on a first name basis with the guys at the counter.

I've removed a couple a wheels with a 1/2" ratchet and 6 point socket with just a grunt and a tug.

that's for tightening!

use a ratchet, impact wrench, or breaker bar the take it off.

the torque wrench is the biggest tool i have, all the other ratchets are for litte sockets i coulent even get anough levrage...

so i mean would the torque wrench work and how many pounds should it take to get the nut off...

if not i guess ill buy this tomorrow:

It's handy, but it's not what you need.

You need a 1/2" drive set

why a 1/2 drive why not my 3/8...o btw answer me should I go out there and wrestle with the torque wrench or just give up for the night...i mean how am i supposed ot lcok the car with the battery disconnected???

3/8 = snap!

put it back together, air bag and all. Hook up the battery and lock it, then go the the pub for a few pints.

Wake up and go buy a good 1/2" drive set and start over with a pounding hangover.

You'll get it

cheers

just pick up a 1/2" drive set with a long breaker bar.

The impact thing you showed is a manual tool, that you basically beat on it with a hammer the loosen up frozen nuts. Not much help here, it only turns like 1/4 at a strike

If you had access to a pneumatic impact wrench...that's the way to go!

i do but only at school...is the breaker bar just based on levrage...?

and the impact would help unfreeze the nut cuse i think it is ****in locked in there

Get your self a 1/2" breaker bar and a 2-3 foot piece of pipe to extend the breaker bar if needed.;) If you can't get it loose with that then something else is going on.

Better tools and a pipe for leverage. Brutus must have gotten crazy tightening this before or used Loctite. The tightening torque spec is only 60 lb/ft.

Ok so I'ma go buy the breaker bar:

http://www.homedepot.com/prel80/HDUS/EN_US/diy_main/pg_diy.jsp?prod_id=100036490

And the impact set, because I know these work good to unfreeze frozen bols which is what I have and once its unfrozen itll be home free...

I snapped a craftsman extension too, trying to take the caliper carrier bolts off of the 318 first time I did it. Bent my girlfriend's jack handle I was using over the wrench for leverage too!

dam well thats why i want to try the impact tool before i unpack the breaker bar so i can return something lol, tim do you think the impact tool will be able to free the frozen nut?

Sorry, couldn't answer the phone... tax season, had a client.

Impact link didn't come thru. Is it electric? Cheap ones suck, expensive ones can be decent. Wired will have more power than a cordless.

You'll want a breaker bar anyways... get both, the bar's not expensive.

I always use an impact socket - it gives you the right length to clear the wheel too.
