I don't think OBDII went into effect until 1996.

OBDII sucks bagg...ask anyone with a Porsche 993 or search the web for "SAI"...the only thing OBDII is good for is putting in more tricks and gimmicks and sensors for the emissions of a car. For instance, on the 993, the Secondary Air Passages [tiny air squirters in each cylinder which run on cold start only to put more oxygen into the cylinders to reduce emissions but do nothing at all for performance or functionality] often get gummed up with carbon residue or gunk since the injectors are so small. When this happens, a "CHECK ENGINE" is lit and you can't pass emissions.
How to fix a pointless system? TOP END JOB!!!!
The 1995 cars had no such issues as they didn't have SAI ports.
OBDI please, if I have a choice.
