this snow sucks

no snow tires and i turned off my ASC and managed to get by ok. i think the snow did in one of my plastic trays in the front. I see something hanigng down.

Tried pressing ASC+T button for approx. 15 sec ? ASC light will go off and now the computer brakes sliding wheel so that both tires could run at the same speed BUT does not limit power. Sort off LSD but really not even close.

Do you press it when it is still on? and doesn't the E34 have an LSD?

With the LSD and some cheapo Firestone Winterforce snow tires, I'm getting around quite well even lowered (eibachs and 3mm pads), and I'm shooting right through the 6+ inch deep drifts and plow piles that really gave me trouble (and got me stuck a couple times) in my all-season-tire-equipped, stock-ride-height E34 sedan. Snow tires make a HUGE difference.

There is a clunking sound coming from the right rear side of my 94 e34 at ~25 mph. Possibly CV jooint, but no tears or rips in seals. sound increases when cornering right.
Also, I have a steering fluid leak anyone have tips on helping to diagnose.

I'm amazed at how well my touring goes in the snow. ASC performs quite well but I prefer it off as this the only time this car will ever steer with the throttle. Now if there were only a switch to disable the damn ABS.
No snows, just Potenza G009s.

Sux...just started a new job commuting 130 miles a day...snow, sleet, freezing rain, etc...yesterday, 15 degrees today.

LSD, 5 speed, Protenza G009 doing pretty well...

Was out of town for a couple days...come back and my car is covered in ice 1/4 inch thick!!! Took me 45 minutes get it driveable and I had to crawl into the driver's seat from the passenger side!

Total pain, and I was worried about scratching the paint the entire time I was trying to get it off. Much rather have snow.

there is, disconect the sensors, corse then youl have the light on but you can deal with that

My car started up fine after being basically burried under 3.5ft of snow drift from plows. but as i was filling it up the gas tank door just plopped off. wtf?

This is from the technical fitness thread in bimmer nuggets in the archives. It was orginally posted by Qsilver7. Might come in handy for those of you socked by the winter storm.


I think one of the most obscure and forgotten is the heated door lock on the driver's side. If the temp is below a certain degree, and the doors have been locked for a certain amount of time...if you lift up and hold the driver's door handle for about 5 seconds...the lock cylinder will heat up for 20 seconds. You can do this 2 more times (if the lock is still frozen)...then you'll have to wait (I think) 40 minutes then you have 3 more chances again to thaw the lock.

Some BMWs also have a heated section of windshield below the windshield wiper's "parked" area...to keep them from freezing to the windshield. (this may be a 7 series feature, though)

Last time it froze, I opend my door and the gloss covering the chrome trim came with it :(
