Alternator change up tp 140amps???????????????

Just read that acidfire52 changed his alt. and bumped up amps from 80 to 140amps. I gotta change mine and that sounds like a Great upgrade, but Bentleys says NO. I hate it when they say No, makes me want to do it more.
Any advice on how to do the change or the
Bump up from 80 to 140 amps?????????????????

if you can find one that fits your model in your area it won't hurt anything, it only puts out what the car needs

the 115 amp AL 147X is the biggest thing i list on my computer for a m20 525, the m50 525s ran 140s and 80s

Just be sure to get one with the pulley. I did not look, but from what I have read, they are different. Bolts right up

Mine went from 115 to 140 and no problems

You might want to consider looking at the 12+ V cable that goes from the alternator to the battery. If there is 100% load, whatever cable that was installed for a 80 amp alternator might not be the same as a 140 amp or 120 amp alternator. Granted you won't run into a problem unless your current draw is over 80....Just something to think about

THANKS FOR THE IMPUT!!!!!! Found a reman. on flee-bay V pulley in Calif. for $83.99 +$24.99 shiping , BASH BMW to fit my '90 525i , well see. Saw others but had surpenteen type puley. Guess I 'll have to drive my Ford EXploder for a while.

extra amperage output from a alternator would never hurt, in-fact you're electronics would love it.

didnt the m60's get over 100 amps? 120 i believe?

94 owners manual states:
525i, 525i touring, 530i touring, 540i got the 140A/1960W alternator
530i has 100A/1400W
