so with that, lets see some of your installs, dosent necessarily have to be an e34, im just curious.
Meh, I just clip it on the dash :) I may get around to hard wiring it, but the STi is still mostly undetectable so no matter yet...
Nice invisible installation. I'll bet he lives in Ohio.

just curiouswhy go through all the trouble?
I use the suction cup bracket on my 8500 & mount it dead center between the seats to get best recption for oncoming and radar approching from the rear and that is it
this way i can change between two cars and two motorcycles in seconds:D

Some want it just for looks, ie none.
Others, it is illegal in their state.

Last time I checked, you could still run a detector in Ohio.

Cops around my parts are more strict with fines if they see you have a radar. I got pulled over by laser(nothing i could prevent anyways) while my detector was off. The cop gave me **** about it, asking me why i had it, and how if it was worth it right now. total dickhead, he ended up busting me for my tint, speeding and trying to prove that my truck wasn't street legal(becuase of sport suspension, engine mods, etc.)
So from now on, im not gonna have mine sit out in the open.

Cops in my area are a big fan of laser so after a few bad experience's i have resorted to investing in a Passport SRX Plus http://www.passportsr1.com/srx.htm . I put it in back in August just before i left for school and even with its absurd price its already payed for itself. The install is "invisible" to almost everyone.

The flash helps show the two front laser detector / scramblers and you can just make out the radar unit in the right kidney.

This is a better shot of the radar sensor that sits inside the power steering coolant loop.

The rear laser unit sits just above my license plate, probably the most visible part of the system.

This is a side view of the main display pulled out. The chrome molding was removed from the tray and it was painted a flat black. I used two spring loaded hinges to mount the display and make it pop up when you pull the tray out like the 12v outlet does.

This is the mute button and is probably the sloppiest part of the install, i have been planning on finding an extra ASC switch to fill a dummy slot and wire it in place of the mute.

This is a shot of the "concealed display" a two color led that i put inside the cluster in an unused space. Its green most of the time but it flashes red rapidly when there is an alert. This is really nice when you have loud music or people around.

I bought the "expansion pack" for the unit so i got the voice alerts system but its hard to show in a picture. I don't use the old midrange speakers from the front three way setup so i wired the left one into the voice alert system and the right one is used by my bluetooth system. This works great because finding room to mount little speakers under the dash of these cars can be difficult and messy. This looks mint and sounds perfect.

I am so tempted to post a pic of the venerable Silver Eagle speed radar installed into a NSW Police car but hey...It's just not cricket is it.

tgrandahl Nice!
Ive been planning on buying a V1 setup, but with your laser jammer setup i may switch to the passport. Looks like you can get the setup uninstalled for roughly $700 which isnt too bad, factoring in tickets 15mph over, are over $175 in georgia.
Did you pay the $1500+ installation cost?

wow, only $700?! did you install it yourself for that price? i want one for front and back, but i don't really speed, and don't have the available funds for one right now, just want one on principle.

i found the $700 deal on ebay, so i doubt he got it for that price, let alone installed. Im also curious on whether he installed it payed to have it installed.
just want one on principle.
Same here. I just have an S-Cobra stuck on my windshield by my rearview.
