Aux Coolant Pump, Weird Noise

I just replaced my aux coolant pump. The old one was making humming noise for weeks and then suddenly started spewing out fluid all over the firewall. The new one is making a clicking noise sporadically. Does that seem normal?

Does the clicking noise go away when you turn the heat full up or full down?
If so then the clicking is not the pump but the heater valves.

Thank you. I think's indeed what it could be. I sure didn't want to take the pump out again, especially since I bought it on-line.
