End of this week i'll be getting 235R17/45 on my front and 255R17/40s on the rear. This to my knowledge is what T-stars take, some freaking moron put some shitbox chinese death tyres that were 235s on the rear. so i am retifying that problem.
I am getting Maxxis MAV-1's I can't believe that a set of 4 V-rated tyres in these sizes will only set me back $700 Australian including fitting and balancing. I am not really expecting heaps from these tyres except to be a good solid touring tyre. they certainly can't be any worse than the firestones i had on the front and WanLi (aka chinese death tyres)that caused the back to say hello in the wet that were on the rear.
I have heard very good things about Maxxis MAZ-1 (they won wheels tyre comparison a few years ago) but i didn't want a very soft tyre so i went with the MAV-1, so I'll let you know how they go.
The next cheapest decent tyres were hankooks and they were still about $300 more all up.:D

i wouldn't give $300 for a set of hankooks let alone $300 more then something else, around here they are cheep **** only eclipsed in general shittyness by the house brand parts store cheepos like (insert your favorite cheep grease ball tire name here)

You are lucky. I was quoted $149 (each) for Ecsta SPTs, 225/55/16.
Where can I get such low prices online?
Tried the tirerack but they won't ship to my address.

Sounds like a business opportunities to me... Ya know... smuggled auto parts and selling it at 3 times the normal price instead of 4... aw heck... 2 times instead so I don't have to stick along there long...
Maybe I'll import them as toys...

UPS won't ship to your address? I didn't know that. I thought every US address was UPS shipable. You could always have it shipped to the nearest UPS hub where you can pick them up next time "your in town".
I have the 225/50/16 Ecsta's on my car and love them. I think I only paid $89.00 each from tire rack for them.

$67 ea wholesale from tirerack plus about $10-15 shipping (but you gotta have a account for that price), quite a mark up from who ever you got that quote from

got my tyres done they had alot of toe in one of the wheels (RHS kerb side for RHD) had heaps of toe in. really nice and smooth i am very happy now.
I have a question though should the driver's side wheel have more camber than the passengers on the report they did it say LHS -1 deg camber and the RHS 0 degrees i figured if there was a driver in the car it would be equal (weight on RHS -> negative camber.

yes but having 80 kg on one side of the car is going to mean one side is in bump more than the other.

Maybe I'll import them as toys...The Australian parts mafia would come and put an end to whatever plan you came up with. Them or the Police, Customs, Feds, etc. that they 'employ'. The business is good, for them :)

EDIT: The absolutely correct alignment specs depend on the ride height, i.e. springs. If you have lowered springs, you should dial in the M-Technik suspension specs- however to do that you need M5 trailing arms, bushes and maybe the whole damn wishbone (ie rear end frame) at the rear. It's a big job, however the front requires no modification.

Bro that ain't on. Are you insured... and is he/she?? I hope it ain't too bad. Every time I put a new part on my car I think its gonna happen to me like this, but as a write-off job. I can't bare to see another of my bimmers goto a bone yard again. I'll keep her in pieces and nurse her to life even if it is terminal and am advised by all n sundry not to...

yeah man, he admitted fault and made a claim 2 hrs later so its all okay, now i am just chasing some parts so i might be able to get a touch up and some of the imperfections on the roof paint fixed up. It won't be some random dick doing it either it'll be a friend of a friend so it should be done right.
PS the people in england still drive on the left hand side of the road. dummy
