*Passes out* I was thinking today if anybody had some E34 they never drove, how cool would that be....
Low and behold...

Jeez, speaking of paranormal.

Shogun should grab this (So much $ though :-/ )

I'm suprised that it's a left hand drive. It must have been a special order, especially with those wheels. 48k CAD landed is about 20k GBP. There seem to be a few (immaculate) E34 M5's pushing 17k GBP around but not many and they have a good few miles on them. The interior shot of that one looks pretty new and unused.

I wonder what the story behind it is? It was never going to be rare enough to warrant a speculative investment and this one was made well after the crash of "classic" car speculations of the late '80's.

Reminds me of the Jaguar XJ220. A lot of them were moth-balled when new as an investment, they are now worth a lot less than the the 60-70k milers as they cost a fortune to make useable. I recently heard a story of someone winding miles on to their 220 in order to sell it. Who knows (I don't know anyone with a Japanese import that had a documented history) maybe the mileage on this one is genuine?

According to the ad Panda, the car was garaged in a BMW dealership in Japan and forgotten about until now.

Many cars in Japan are imported as LHD, even though Japan is a RHD country, because LHD "prestige" cars are seen as more classy/valuable/etc.

I didn't know about the LHD prestige thing but it makes sense.

I'm sure I've forgotten about a pair of shoes in a wardrobe somewhere, if only I could find them. I'm kind of hoping that my dad left a DB4 GT in his.

How do you "forget" that you might have an M5 around somewhere?

Brick Top: Shhh. You're going to have to repeat that.

Brick Top: Well, where'd you lose him? He ain't a set of ****ing car keys, is he? And it ain't as if he's incon-****ing-spicuous now, is it?

Either a rollback or every other hose is rotted.

I'd still buy it.

It's just hilarious. I'd start an OT "Favourite quote from Snatch" thread but you just had it!

Yeah - love to see them run it for a few miles, park it, and see what pours out!

May be Shogun can check it out for us. I have a hard time to believe a dealer will leave a M5 to sit 16 years. Pretty fishy.

test listed the M5 price at 56,600 USD, final cost included a gas guzzler tax of almost 2K USD and a cell 'phone for 1200 bucks. As tested price, 59,665 USD. This was a huge premuim over the base 535i and explains why the darn things are so rare, you had to be seriously rich to afford one!

Wow,a brand new 17 year old car!! Sounds wicked!

But come on guys, stay realistic: hoses are probably cracked, so are the belts, I don't wanna think about what has happened to oil in the engine, the internals may have rust, CV boots are probably cracked too, etc.

It's a nice car to put in a garage just to say "I have a brand new M5". But if u wanna drive it, be prepared to spend another 4 or 5k$ (US$)...

i think your all missing the point
if you were to spend money on one of these from new, its highly unlikely you would put it in your old shed and forget about it for 17 years. Its more likely that the owner has looked after it, ie temperature controled, because its not mouldy and probably periodically changed the fluids

Why that price ?

$ 47,927.00 CDN

What a strange number !

Why not 47,990 or 47,936.50 or whatever.

Make no sense to me.
