clutch its starting to slip. I have the e36 m3 shifter in the car now. So as rip into it I an going to redo the shifter. Is the Z8 shorter than the M3 ? Z3 to short ? Does the z8 shifter need to be bent ?
Thanks
Derek.-

The Z8 shifter doesn't need to be bent, it is a direct replacement.

I recently swapped out my shift lever on my factory option 5-speed E32 (735i) with the Euro M3 model (PN: 25 11 222 8 069). Was A LOT shorter of a throw... Here is something I've read: A Euro e36 M3 shifter provides a 30% reduction in throw and remains close to the stock height of the E32/E36 shift knob and is around $50 at the dealer. As it turns out, the 30% reduction produces a noticeable amount of notchiness in the shift action. 15% to 20% reduction for the 1.9 Z3 shift lever.
I don't notice the "notchiness" they speak of in my shifter, so I can't give any input on that whatsoever.
