is over heating at idle a common thing?

My e34 overheats when it's sitting at idle for a long time (15) minutes.

is this common?

it doesn't overheat when I'm at stop and go traffic in congested places.

sounds like fan clutch or water pump. probly more fan clutch.

Are you in the tropical area? Is your AC on? If it is check you aux fan.
