Would these fit on the e34? If so, how do they stand as far as performance goes, compared to 750/850, m5 calipers?

I know the e46 m3 calipers are pretty good, so how about the e36?

EDIT: seems like the m5 calipers use the same pads as the e36 m3's, so i don't see any reason why they wouldn't fit.

Looks like the stock m3 rotors are 315" x 28" same as the 3.6 m5, im starting to get excited...

will they fit onto the strut though?. thats the question, sure the rotors may fit (I haven't checked that out), but you will probably need an adaptor plate made so they fit onto the strut. e36 m3 calipers are a floating design right? why don't you go for some fixed calipers? Just because they use the same pads deosn't mean the calipers will fit.

you need some e32 750iL brakes. (http://www.bimmer.info/forum/showthread.php?t=30516)

I really don't know anything about the different brake designs. What im looking for is something cheap, better performance and that will fill the gap from my 18"s.

I heard the 750/850 calipers are great, but they are hard to come by, expensive and pads/rotors are hard to find and expensive.

If the e36 setup fit that would fill my gap nicely, rotors/pads are cheap and plentifull, and you can get a set of e36 ///M calipers for $100 shipped.

you are after the impossible. nothing is cheap about a big brake upgrade. 355+mm rotors to fill the gap in 18" wheels. if you want cheap then e34 540i brakes with better pads are your best bet. you may not notice much difference from your current setup though.

Im not talking dirt cheap, i mean the most cost effective option rather than the best;)

Since e36 ///M's are everywhere, the chances of me snagging a set for a good deal is higher than finding an affordable 850 set.
