Interior lights possessed?

So I've had my car since August, and I've been trying to figure out how the interior lights decide to turn on when the car is shut down. It seems to just be random. I can't figure out whether there's some kind of light sensor somewhere, or whether it's checking to see if I've got the brake pedal depressed, or something entirely different. Maybe they're supposed to come on any time the ignition is turned off, and the wiring is just going back in my car. The manual isn't of any help. (Or maybe I'm just illiterate.)

I haven't figured it out in eight months! Would anyone happen to know what's going on?

Mine does this too, trying to figure it out.

I think it's something to do with having your lights switched on/time engine has been running.
