Hello everyone,
I was wondering if anyone can help me.
I have a 1992 525iSE auto E34 RHD. I got the 'Brake Linings' alert on the dashboard, so yesterday I replaced all the pads both front and rear, cleaned the sensors with compressed air and the warning is still on.
Is there someway to get it to go off or do I need to go to BMW?
As ever all assistance appreciated, and thanks in advance.
Take care,
Dougie

You might need to replace the sensors. I believe they act like a simple switch, so if you have cleaned them and they still trigger they probably need replacing.
Not sure how much they are at the stealers, you could try contacting someone like BMA if buying interstate is not a hassle for you.

I'm pretty sure, well for my model anyway. That when sensor is tripped (eg coming in contact with the rotor as the pad gets low) that it has to be replaced as it is a one use only thing. When I change my pads I usually replace the sensors anyway. They are very cheap...
Usually sensor changed every other pad change. They're cheap.

I have ALWAYS change both front and rear sensors when changing the pads, as well as all four rotors.

Do you change your rotors at every brakepad change?

Do you change your rotors at every brakepad change?
Yes i do, I figure I'm there... I use cross drilled/slotted rotors.

Wow that's pretty expensive. Do your rotors stuff up all the time, or are they perfectly OK and you change them anyway?
