Hi - a while back my wife's '95 525i touring started to make blower fan noises. I was hoping it might only be debris but no suck luck. Finally while she was driving smoke came out of all vents.
Nothing works now. I checked and the blower fuse (30amp) is blown and keeps blowing. So I assume the blower motor is burnt and shorting out.
Is there a diagram to show how to exchange it? Is it a big job?
Thanks for any input.

From your Bentley manual ;)
If you don't have one, get one.

Thank you .... so the access is through the engine compartment by the firewall?

Yup, pop the plastic cover off the 'bulkhead' and you'll figure it out from there.

I found this contraption sitting on the blower access cover. What is it and why is it not in the manual? Also I have these hoses in front of the lower right side screw. Do I need to remove them to gain access to that screw?
Thanks again for all the help.

You shouldn't have to remove any hoses. From what I recal, the 'contraption' is quite stiff upon unbolting and takes a bit of muscle to get out of the way. Tie it back to get room to work behind.

Thanks for the reply. What is that enclosure sitting on the blower cover?
Thanks ...

Are you talking about the cover for the wiring harness?? If so, it just that ;), a cover for various wires. From what I recall, it pulls of the bulkhead and you can tie it back to make working in behind easier. Give it a shot, just be a tad carefull as you don't want to damage any wires in there.
