fuel check valve question

I'm having an intermittent hard starting problem. Seems to happen warm and cold starts. If I understand correctly what I've read so far on the fuel check valve, it's internal in the pump, and the fix is an external replacement ? Is this a bmw part or are there other valves that will work as well ?

Includes check-valve, about 6" of hose, a couple clamps, and a piece of hose insulation.

I installed that kit a few years ago, but it could be your fuel pump dying also.
It would be good to test the fuel pressure at the rail to see if it is high enough.
