well, i need your help guys.
my car is a 9/90. 525i m50. it has 251k km (155k miles) on it, lpg installed. 17",shortshifter, all clears, complete Mtech inside.
the car so far cost me around $7500, and i just got an offer, that same amount of money.
should i sell it or not? i'm thinkin that an e36 coupe 328i with LSD would satisfy me, or maybe an e30 m3....
i don't know what to do. please vote.
TIA
$7500 is a very generous offer for a '91
Indeed, you might not find another offer that high.
Two issues here...
1. your car is working fine, you know it well, and it is maintainable, AND it's the way you like it
--- you will need to start the process over with another car!
2. this is great offer for a 91... lots of money
--- will this money be enough to get you back into the 'satisfied' state you are now?

it's not my decision.
WHY do you wnat to change, is it for the sake of change? or to upgrade?
Have you Found another vehicle you want already?

This is pretty easy. Assuming that you didn't mean you had $7500 total into your car over the past 5 yrs. And assuming that you did a lot of work on your car too. $7500 did not include your labor. So if you didn't think your car is worth more than $7500, why did you put that much into it plus labor? So you yourself must think your car is worth more than $7500 to spend that much money plus time into it.

I had to go with sell it.
I think you did a fine job on your ride.
Time to do another. The market today is soft for our model and you could pick up something with a lot of potential at a very good price with cash left over.
I will have to insist that you send the wheels to me before selling. What are they, 17 inch style 5's? Staggered? Mmmm.

well,it's like this. here in croatia, the reasonable price for an e34, no matter the year, if it's good, is around $4500. so i'm getting an excellent price.
the other thing is...i would like to look for a good 325i coupe e36,or a e30m3 if i find one. i honestly like those cars better than the e34...but i'm doubting now. i really fell in love with my car, i don't know what to do...
If you do sell, plaster the car with bimmer.info decals so the car sticks with the forum. It's a beauty :D

thanks. that indeed is one of the main reasons i'm thinking about leaving it. btw, i did the complete facelift a few days ago, my baby got a wide hood and grille :)

If you find your car a headache and just so tired of maintaining it and eyeing for a new one then sell...but if your happy and very much contented with your car why sell? ME right now i'm still sooo inlove with my e34 that even if some1 offered me $10,000 which is sooo imposible i would'nt sell it...why? because i'm happy with it and contented;) your call...but I voted don't sell:D

Those wheels look fantastic on your car! I'd keep it for sure, but it's not my decision.

Look around to see if you can find a good one for $4500 or less. Since you are more experienced now you might end up spending much less to do what you want to it. Then flip your car.
But I think you will be disappointed. These cars are at least 12 yr old now, so finding a clean example just gets harder and harder. If you happen to sell, buy a beater to use while you wait for a car that you cannot pass up.

id keep mine if i was able to. but my firend might be buying my E34.
seems like the older bmws are the ones u miss more. I miss my E30 more than my E36 M3.

vote? why? do you leave a decision of $7500.00 to poll on a website? are you gonna have a poll to get married as well? as much as i wish you all the best with your bimmer and the future these polls are just getting ridiculous. if u like it keep it, if u dont sell it , wtf!

So you think the e36/e30 are better? Go find one and try it out... then come back and tell us your decision ;)

$7500 is a good price. I saw a 95 525i 5speed selling for $5000 in LA with the same mileage.

$7500 is not the amount of money that will do me anything special. i'm not hungry ;)
anyways, i decided to keep the car. i'm not selling it, because when i've put everything on paper, the money is good, but there aren't ANY e30 m3's for sale that are worth buying.
the second issue is e36's. if i decide on it, i'd get solely the coupe, and 325 or 328i. the problem with these is if they're good, then it's at least $8000. and then if i add $2000 for wheels, springs, shocks, exhaust, interior etc...i'm on $10.000 which is waste of money imho.
the car stays, i gave him a complete inside outside wash today, now i'm gonna take good care of the baby. after polishing it two weeks away from today, i will post new pics with new look ;)
