Is there a short shifter for a 1989 535i Bimmer?

a e36 m3 shifter is one of the more common units used, pretty much drops right in

Ditto that... I thought Bruno's site has some OEM examples from other models that bolt right up but I don't see it there at the moment... there was an old-school post somewhere that had them all laid out. My car's PO put in a z8 shifter.

Z8 shifter is your best choice. Of course, you'll see a difference anyway after you replace all the worn linkages too ;)
If i were getting one i would definitley make it the UUC kit.Love solid machined stainless steel parts ...
