My '92 525i has been off the road for a while and the battery went flat. The 'lift the handle turn the key' procedure doesnt work on my car so I had taken the precaution of leaving the bonnet open. That way I could still power up the doors with a slave battery. I then decide to charge the battery in situ. I remove the back seat, disconnect the terminals from the car and connect the charger. The lead goes out the door to a nearby socket. I lock the car doors manually.
I come back to the car and connect up the slave battery. I get flashing headlights and indicators and no door release! I dont have access to the internet where the car is - and my Bentleys is where? Inside the car :-)
After an hour fishing through the (luckily) half open door with bits of welding rod, coat hangers etc I got the door open. Hold down the microswitch above the battery and connect the negative and all is well.
