my car wont start, have had someone look at it, no mechanical/electrical faults. he thinks its the immobilizer stopping the car from being started. all the lights come on including radio, dash lights etc when you turn the key but it wont turn over. can someone help me with the location of the immobilzer or a way of getting the car to start? possibly removing the immobilzer all together? i have the keyless remote, but the little red light has only everflashed once, just once, and the battery in it is fine. do i need this to disable the immobilzer?
thanks so much for any input!
i want my little baby to start again!

i re'read my post, it sound like im a thief but im not. ive ruled everything else out, starter motor, ignition switch etc so their are only two thing left, imobilzer and starter relay. the mechanic disconeccted the battery with the ignition set to position 1, and now the blinkers are always on. im pretty sure he engaged the immobilizer and made the probelm worse....i need help really badle! someone, im dying here, and my e34 is almost dead to.

Try bypassing the starter relay - it's in the front fuse & relay box (I think there is also a starter immobilisation relay (SIR) behind the left hand pick plate but as far as I can remember the SIR feeds the starter relay).

its not only the starter also the fuel pump doesn't work if the immobilizer is active

in 7 years of installing car security, i've never once ever seen a car with a failed immobilizer. Could be solenoid, starter, ignition switch. transmission selector could think its in drive?

ok ive found out the car is totally immobilised including ignition and fuel. my key fob doesnt work, is this what UN imobilizes the car?
do i need a new key? will this fix my immobilizer problems?

You can't disable the EWS II immobilizer (guessing you have a 1995 built date?), I would say that you tow the car to a BMW dealer or a specialist that can work on EWS, you only have one key? Does it stop before getting to ignition? Than you need a better key.
There is very unlikely a problem with the EWS system.
So stupid persons tried to steal my only sold 540i/6 #794/797:( ... http://www.autopower.se/galleriet/galleribilder/00036068_40776_S6.jpg
But the EWS stopped them from getting away with the car:D but the steering wheel was sawed through and both door lock and ignition lock is destroyed:(

nice car, mines the exact same colour, yes sounds like the ews...looks like it will have be taken to a dealer. wat price should i be looking at for a diagnostic as well as resetting the ews system?
whats the average price for a replacement key?
Ask your mechanic if he can bypass the immoblizer. That will save you a ton of money compared to bringing it to the stealer. That's what my indy did for me when my immoblizer kicked in when I did some repairs on my baby. I was charged $100 for the job. A buddy of mine had the same problem and brought it to the stealer and paid $1200... yikes!!!
