Anyone knows how much it would cost to refurbish my existing steering box? I've had a power steering fluid leak for the last 6 months. I've tried to diagnose the origin of leak leak a little each week or when I have time. I've eliminated everything and determined yesterday it was teh steering box. I'd rather not pay $1800 for a new one. I'd prefer to have this one I have refurbished or possibly do it myself, if that is at all possible.
Interested in what everyone has to say.

Do the M60 E34 have the steering gearbox with a servo? Or without?

No most dont. But you can use the Servotronic Steering Box with a non-servotronic car. I did this. I picked a reman steering box from ZF off Ebay for $300. I have been running the Servo Steering box for over a year now on a non Servo car. It steers like new. It was the best upgrade ever done to my car. JT

I hope you have better luck than I did on this issue. When mine was leaking a year or so ago, there were no rebuild kits and I had to pay the big cash to get her back on the road. We tried and tried to find another alternative, I was on the phone for a few days and so was the parts guy at my indy. No luck. IIRC, the box on the 530 is particular to this car and consequently, there are not a lot of options since the market of potential buyers is very small.
Sorry I didn't have better news,
R.
