About to buy M Parallels same size all round. mistake?

Hi All

I have spied these wheels on ebay and I am going to see them. I really want a set of M pars and these look good, only trouble is that they are reps (which may or may not be ok) and they are the same size all round. Is this necessarily a bad thing? Shouldn't this set come with larger rears? Do the larger wheels fit the e34 without bother?

Any advice is much appreciated.

I've got a set of staggered replicas that I'm very happy with. But frankly, if I had to do it again, I'd prob go with the same size all around. I've got a tiny bit of rubbing in the rear (when I've got the car full of people, which nearly never happens). But more than anything, when I went to get an alignment, I took it to a specialist that knew what he was doing, and since there's very little adjustment built into the suspension on our cars, there was little he could do to get the specs right with the lowered suspension (Sachs Sport Kit). He said if they weren't staggered, he could play around with moving some wheels around to better leverage the little differences in the wheels, etc. But since they were staggered and with directional tires - there was nothing he could do. In any case, I think either staggered or not would be the mutts nuts.

Staggered is the way to go, but it won't hurt to have all the same size. If anything, you'll get a little extra tire life by being able to rotate them. (?)

I've also heard rep M-pars working out just fine.

As for large wheels fitting? With the right offset, I don't see why not. I run 10" rears with no problem.


I think either staggered or not would be the mutts nuts.

non staggered is more practical,even if you dont rotate.It means you will mostly only ever have to buy two tyres at once.,and being a more reasonable size maybe more chance of getting a replacement on a holiday weekend in the middle of anywhere....

Thanks for the advice! I think theres just something about the staggered ones that look that little bit better, very subtle but just that little bit beefier although non staggered is still damn good. I hear you about the practical side though and I was wondering if there was more room in the arches of an e39 for the wider tyres but it looks like it should be ok even for a touring (I presume they are the same or very similar to the saloon).

However as these are round the corner from me I would be made to not even look, if they are in good condition I will buy them (if the seller ever answers my emails!) and post some pics!

Staggered is when the wheel sizes are "staggered" i.e. they aren't the same size - usually wider in the rear.
Non-staggered means you have the same size wheel/tire in front and back. On mine for example, I have 18x8" in the front and 18x9.5" in rear.
My tire sizes are also different - 235mm in front and 265mm in rear with a corresponding change in the aspect ratio so I get the same overall height front and back.
