I've seen this on a few 5's and thought it was much better looking than the tacky chrome trim. I looked online and couldn't find where to buy it. Do you purchase it from the dealer or what? Where can I get blacked out trim?

Search is your friend. Either tape it or paint it, unless you want to pay hundreds of dollars for OEM trim.

I did search silly. I could not find where to buy the Shadowline trim pieces. I'm not interested in taping or painting over.

finding the actual trim pieces will be fun, not to mention really expensive

losers... call BMAparts.com and get the OEM trim... didn't cost too much and it looks much better than the crappy tape that was on the car when i bought it.
Tape looks ok from 5ft or more, but up close its the nastyness.

What did you end up paying for it?

don't remember... i'm sure it was over $100 but the pieces look so much better than what i have taped up now, and the body shop guy says the tape is pretty good.

Abraham's did the shadowline in the group buy last year for $439. I can't justify that much when I can just pull the trim off and paint it.

Using a good black paint, like SEMS or similar will give good results. If you take the time to prep before painting, you'll get results that are 99% as good as OEM Shadowline. To be honest, if I had to pay for the Shadowline on my car, I wouldn't. I'd paint it using SEMS products.
