I made the decision to pull the rear bumper assembly to get at the muffler hangers. Quite easy actually.
Remove side markers, and then pop off the bumper trim (center strip) starting with the rear and then the sides. 4 bolts in the back attaching the bumper assembly to the bumper shock and side the whole thing off. Better to have 2 people, with it protected 1 can do it.
Hangers very easy to reach from that point on.
