m5 diff in a standard 525i?

can it fit?

my 525i has 6 bolts on each shaft for the differential. the m5 diff i can get also has same shaft heads, the only potential problem is the diff housing. does it fit?

woudnlt it make ur 525i slower off the line? the M5 has 310hp your car is rated at like 190. M5s dont need super high gears to get going.

also no, the M5 is a large case diff.

The M5(E34) uses an adapted E38 diff, if you have welding facilities it will fit but allow 14 hrs labour,the ratio will not help you.The only advantage is theZF plate diff which can be tightened up with Bellville washers. Forget it, find an E30 M3 diff, three belleville washers from a ford "Atlas" diff, change ratios and you have a better set up, mine clanks at slow speed on corners but got me home when I forgot to finally tighten the drive shaft bolts which broke.Doh.

well....what makes the car move is the diff along with the gear ratios. so if i calculated properly, it would decrease my max speed, but make my car faster form the line.

my neighbour bought one m5 a few years ago for parts, and he still has the extra diff, and i MUST have an LSD :D

EDIT: Anyone want a 2.64? I'd love to put something like a 3.46 in from a 525i and see what it does with all that torque.
