Exhaust rattle question

92 525i, 155k miles, original exhaust. I have a rattling noise in the exhaust, about under back seats. There is nothing external rattling like a heat shield. What is the likely culprit? Muffler, resonator, cat?

Internal baffles in the muffler. Exhausts generally go from the inside out. If you were to take yours off and turn it vertical, you would probably get a lot of rust falling out of it or you could at least shake it and hear it all "rattling" around in there. Time to look for a new one.
