View Full Version : Radio display light bulbs
Has anyone here replaced the bulbs in their radio? Both of them in a spare radio I have are burned out. There is no marking at all on them.
Safe to assume 12v? Wattage?
12v? Yes... size of bulb? You got me.
Ross, search "radio bulbs" you dipshit!
Found it, two conflicting Radio Shack part #s, I'll post which works.

Part # 272-1092
#7219 pack of 2 12v 60mA
I followed this light replacement (http://home.comcast.net/%7Ejsnord/radio.htm) on my 1989 535i radio a few months back (have since installed a CD43, a very worth while upgrade) and it works great. For the soldering you will need excellent eyesight or as in my case I used a magnifying headset (http://www.apogeekits.com/magnifying_glasses.htm) to complete the job. If you know how to solder and take your time this is a "doable" job. Otherwise you could make a mess of it.
Good luck
Jim
I bought these lamps and they are about half the size of the originals and mine only has two (Alpine radio I believe) bulbs.
As far as the soldering goes I'll definately do it before my usual pot of morning coffee.

These bulbs although smaller work fine on the Alpine radio with two bulbs.

That looks pretty straightforward. Now I just need to get the Bentley Manual or see if my Haines or my e-30 M3 manuals have removal instructions. Thanks for the support.
