I am going from a 7jx15 et20 cross-spoke wheel to an 8jx17 ET 20 wheel. (OE style 32). Is the 1-inch greater rim width on the outside or some on the inside?
I plan to use 235x45x17 tires. It seems as if the clearance along the front strut will be a bit tight.
BTW, I will use hubcentric rings. I have plastic and metal. TIA

Since the offset is the same, ET20, the additional width is equally split, 1/2" on inside and 1/2" on outside.

I am running 17x8.5 with that same tire size with no rubbing. You should be OK.

i have 17x9 and no rubbing, so it's good.
if you can, use metal rings, plastic could shake.
