A friend of mine just brought a 750i, idle and power are fine but sometimes(hot or cold doesn't seem to effect it) it takes longer to crank ranging from 2-4 seconds other times i fires right up no problem
Sometimes check control comes up as it cranking just before it fires then it disappears.
Does have a puff of black smoke when it starts i noticed, not sure it it always does this or if it is related.
I was thinking maybe a bit of a injector blockage?
But any ideas much appreciated
Cheers

well, if the injectors weren't tested as you know it, go and test them and clean them if necessary, that couldn't harm it.
Injector(s) leaking down after shut off causing flooding.

Doesn't that car have a pressure accumulator to maintain fuel pressure to ease the next start?

Don't forget the crank position sensor... more likely than injector... If it is injector then you would know when you hook up pressure gauge or spark plug for fouling.

and a bad injector would likely give you a skip, which you're not complaining of.
Or, if you'd prefer I not dangle a participle, A bad injector would likely give you a skip, of which you're not complaining.

Hmm... Shogun will have info on this in the section of his other boards relating to common problems, I recall this being one of them.

thanks for the advice ill pass it on, test cps then get the injectors cleaned. I would check the plugs if i could be bothered but being a v12 i dont want to, dont think he does either :D.
