Need help sorting out short in trunk light

I've recently started having problem with my trunk light on my 94" 540i. As soon as I open it the fuse blows. I briefed through the wiring schematic and can't find anything wrong and all connections appear to be good.
Could this be related to the same wires in the bend that fail and cause the trunk locking problem?
I cleaned the switch but haven't gone as far as to to start unraveling any of the wires yet and was hoping someone would know before I get deeper into taking everything apart.

I've not personally come across this one before, but my first port of call would be to check for a split wire, possibly shorting out on the body, in amongst the bunch running along and under the boot hinge.
