Yep I've got a 5 speed 2ltr M20 too (UK). Had it for nearly 5 years now - you get used to the lack of power. There are M20 engines that have had turbos fitted, but to be honest if you want more power sell your car and buy one with an M50 twin cam 2.5 ltr engine.

There's always nitrous or a supercharger kit. I don't know what your budget is, but these can be affordable if you want more power.

these replies are so brutally on the money,i just finished reworking a 1989 520-I and i swear my 67 volkswagon bug would beat it from 0 to 40 mph.i love the car but it is so f*c*ing gutless its allmost comical.the automatic trannys do all kinds of shifting and converter lock/unlock with absolutely no effect on the speedometer.my wife has a 2002 E-320 benz which is an absolute rocket for its size.ill drive the 525-I til i can get a good deal on a big engine BMW and then ill figuer out what the ultimate driving thing is all about. bones
