I know you have the EAT chip for 1995 EWS 540's now, and that the new chip is even more powerful than previous non-ews 540 EAT chips. My question is, are you making the non-ews 540 chips with the more potent (93 octane I assume?) mapping?
I read somewhere in a recent post that they will be offered soon, cause I'd like to get one. If you do make them will they be the same price as the old EAT chip?

anybody?
I think MarkD mentioned it was a $50 update to get the new maps for a non-EWS 540 chip. (Correct me if I'm wrong, Mark)
Now I gotta find the old chip so I can drive while he does the update.

It was a long weekend in Canada and I was not in my office much. I was at Mosport racetrack on Saturday and Sunday, where the E30 M3 I tune just set a new track record for itself. (1:34.932) That's pretty good considering that turbo944's with 400 hp are doing it in 1:33.7.
I've made a few versions of the non-EWS chip with the new maps. They are made for 91 octane. Due to the non-exixtent demand for chips this year, and the fact that I haven't even had ONE sale of this new chip for EWS-II cars, since it was announced, I'm not in a huge rush to release any new chips for the 540. I'll try to focus on the 530 development but I'm starting to think there won't be any sales there either.
The new chip for the 404 DME will most likely be $249 USD when the site is updated. The main reason for the increase is that the roughly 50% differential in the US/CAN exchange rate has dropped to about 4% and is close to 2% after PapPal gets their share.

So when can I buy the new non-ews 540 chip? I'll buy one with the improved mapping right now if you have any :)
You can PM me with any info.

Can you send me the numbers on your DME or a photograph of it?
I want to know if the software version number is 1 744 050, or some other number.
I am working on converting the EWS-1 chips (for the 404 DME) over to the new maps. I don't know if there is any true demand for this as I've not even sold one EWS-II chip after having so many people ask for one. So I'm just doing it when I have some spare time.

The DME number is: 0 261 200 404
And there is another number that is: 1744050
The production date is 5/93 if that matters.

They updated the software in the EPROM to version 1 744 050
Mark I have appreciated all your efforts to nail me down a chip for my rare DME. I couldn't risk sending mine to you in case the one you let me use in its place didn't work but I found this in your other Group Buy thread; Quote:

There is a black ring around my ignition and my key has a microchip.Though i thought that was just for the remote locking system i guess it could do both. Tell me what i need to order for my rare (Prash) 404 DME you saw in that nuked thread and I'll order it .
Code 900 is EWS I!! Cars with EWS II doesn't have a equipment code, so yours have EWS I.
Best Regards Stephan

and Figured I'd ask once again with this new input if you either have a chip on the site already made or if you'd have to program one for it. For instance i find this on your site: 95 M60 4.0l without EWS-II, MANUAL transmission rev limit increased, no speed limiter 0 261 200 404 sw version 1.267.358.720 $229". It says for cars without EWS-II does that imply with EWS-I cars will work with it or are we still going to have to have a single custom chip made specifically for my car? Also not sure how the Octane ratings come in to play. If i want to use 93 do you have to program for that specifically ? I can understand your frustration with all the questions and time you give to this segment then getting no results but i do desire one I'd just like to know you're 100% confident what I end up ordering will work. So let me know what you've got and what i need. Thanks,Chris

Mark, you said the new mapping for the 540's will be 91 octane; here is a current thread from bimmerforums about a new 93 octane m60 EAT chip. Is this chip different/more powerful than the new chip for non-ews 540's or is it the same?
Well I finally received the file to burn the 93 octane chip from Mark D. I have to say that there is a rather noticeable difference between the 91 octane chip that I had before and this one. This guy knows his stuff. I requested an increase in low to mid throttle acceleration and got more than what I expected. In a nutshell the car is fast. Around town the car picks up speed quickly and there is a stronger pull at 3500 rpm than before. Highway speeds climb quicker than before and triple digit speeds are attained much easier. The car feels like the pedal is much lighter and takes little effort to move. Highly recommended for those wanting a bump in performance from there original EAT chip or those contemplating purchasing for the first time.
I hope to have a dyno chart soon.
