My '91 730i LKM was playing up so i swapped it with the one from my 88 535i before i sold it, little did i realise that the older module doesnt cause the high level brake to to light up.
I remember or at least i think i do the LKM-B line being something other than B
Was hoping someone with a high level light could see what their one says, would be much appreciated so i know what im looking for when visit the wreckers.
PS Ive attached a picture of the 88 one im currently using
Cheers

i have a 88 535i with rear brake light on the rear windscreen and my LKM looks exactly like the one you have in the picture. it says B there (LKM-B) also.

Yes, all other lights worked. Im sure it worked before with the other LKM. Put 12V across pin 15 on the LKM circut(high brake light) makes it light up so wiring and bulb are good, def the module

Its raining, dark and cold here at the moment, otherwise I'd go out and get the numbers BUT - both my cars have high level brake lights AND -when I swapped the LKM from the 1/89 535 in to the 5(?)/90 M5, the third brake light didn't work.
I will take a look on the weekend if I can organise both cars in the same spot.

well thats my theory gone isnt it.I have a 12/89 535 with high brake light .I will check what my lkm is
FWIW My '89, '94 and '95 all have LKMs sporting the L designation and a high stop light.
Not sure about Kiwi cars but in the US the '88 would have a high stop light also.

thanks for the help chaps, thought i remember the LKM being different. Off to wreckers and hope they have something otherwise going to have to get off my ass and hard wire it.
Not too sure when the high level brake light was standard, im guessing '89 sometime in NZ, E34 it was NZ new and didn't have a factory high level

Got a New LKM-L, lights all work but bring up errors ie side, light, brake light etc. Why i swapped with the old LKM in the 1st place, guessing it time for a resolder job

Was 1988, sold it now.
Solider joints look good, guessing ill just leave it in for the warrant then put the old one back in

I would resolder the original, just did this to my LKM and its working prime! It's nice to switch on your headlights with confidence ;)
Just make sure you seal up every tiny crack you see, I used a magnifying glass to aide me.

funny thing is thou i swapped with my friends 89 750i lkm module which looks identical and the same light errors came up plus more. My new one in his car works fine.
