What're you thoughts guys? a friend of mine runs LM in his E36 M3 and loves the stuff. Worth payin' the extra $$ for?

Good oil, not worth the extra money over Mobil 1.

I used shell fire and ice when I was a kid and roasted 3 455 buick engines. After Mobil 1 Synthetics were available (at WW Graingers only) the motors actualy were race able. I have stuck with Mobil 1 since and have not had a single oil related failure since. Valves in exhaust headers and pistons through blocks were not oil related. High 9 second quarters on 5W-30 with a little engine and no oil related issues is good. I'm still stuck on Mobil 1.

That's all my mechanic runs on his euro spec E36 M3 too. He said he's tried it all, Mobil 1, Castrol TWS and he said usually in the summer, on the way to work, the oil temp gauge goes to 100. When he switched to Lubro Molly it never went over 90 in the exact same conditions. That's all the M5 gets.

what's shell fire and ice? am i just too young, or is that a clever takeoff on the trop-arctic oil?
