The last time this happened to me, it turned out to be because my wife was doing the "shiyakuhachi" and she'd depress the button with her boobs.

Huh... I've got a customer with a 1990 e32 735. He was complaining that the hazard lights would come on when it was raining and the door was open, I'll have to call him up.

I had the problem some years ago and it took me 4 months to find out the culprit.
That is why I recommended it to him and many others.
Mine started even while driving. I could switch it off, it worked for some time and then it started again flashing.

I had the flasher problem in the M5 - it first occurred when I had it in for service. It took a while to track it down - but yep, the crash control module.
I wish. Mine only go on when the dogs step on the button.
