How does the small orange connector on the back side of the airbag release? Slide to the side, pull straight out, or some kinda lock or what ?

pull straight out. no lock they are a tight fit though, took mine out a couple of weeks ago and yes i did pull hard to get it out, just forget you have an airbag in your hand.
