When I spin the alternator pulley I get a weird noise. Should I replace the regulator or might it be a bearing. I recorded the noise on my phone. If anyone wants to hear it I can email it or I can post it somewhere. Let me know where. Trying to put my 13 to 14 year old car back together. Thanks

If you spin it, it is a continues sound. What do you think it is. It sounds like a skate board when you spin the wheels...

Probably bearings, is it soft, like a gentle hum, Or aggressive, like something's seriously wrong? Alternators should have SOME bearing noise, you're most likely to hear it when spinning by hand.

Could be the brushes starting to collapse and scrape as well, though bearings are the most likely culprit
