I finally got round to giving my car a good clean this weekend. it's been a bit grubby lately due to a combination of pissy weather and lazyness.

Anyway, i washed the car on saturday morning. as you can see from the first pic it was pretty dirty. then i clayed it as the paint felt a bit rough. turned out it was covered in green overspray as a result of parking in an industrial area every day of the week. it's amazing how smooth this stuff gets your paint again. makes polishing and waxing it so much easier.

after that i polished it with 3M final glaze. only a quick once over as i couldn't be bothered to be honest. then i waxed it with the concorso. i've never used a wax that has to be applied by hand before and by the time i had finished i was pretty stuffed! the good thing about putting it on by hand is that if you get any **** on your hands you can feel it straight away before you rub it into the paint.

i let it cure till sunday morning then i washed it and waxed it again. after sitting in the sun for a few hours the shine and gloss doubled. it looked much wetter than with only one coat. i haven't applied the Zaino sealant yet but here's how it looks anyway. i'm over the moon with the results.

oh and the wax definately doesn't taste as nice as it smells... (mango or something)

... i haven't applied the Zaino sealant yet..[/IMG]
I'm a little confused.
My understanding is Zaino is a sealant (albeit a glossy one) that must be applied to clean wax free paintwork.

I've read you can optionally apply a wax (if you wish) OVER the Zaino - not the other way around.
I've never read anywhere of applying Zaino over wax?

Ah beat me to it.
Why are you putting zaino on top of wax? There is absolutely no point. Depending on the final glaze product from zaino, it is supposed to react with the polymers of previous layers of various other zaino products. Carnauba will not be affected, and durability of the zaino that stays on the car will be significantly reduced.

Wax over zaino will enhance the gloss depending on if you only put on a thin single layer of zaino, otherwise it will be pointless. Zaino layers to zaino better than any mix between carnauba/polymer. The carnauba is likely to just melt off in a week, if not less.

these are the instrustions from the Zaino website. I was told by various other detailers that you spray this stuff on the car once the wax has cured. if you repeat this process every few months it helps maintain the shine.

I have to say congrats on the respray. Way less orange peel than stock clearcoats have!

thanks. i wet sanded the whole car to get rid of the peel. i wanted it perfectly flat. I put the clear on really wet though so there wasn't too much peel.

Kriss i spent about $2000 on materials. All up, took me about 2 months to do it as i only did it after work and on the weekends.
