Autozone is close to the cheapest, but their return/warranty policy is great. Duralast batteries are made by Douglas, which makes the oem batteries. They're perfectly fine as replacements.

It's hard keeping up with the battery mfgs because they keep buying and selling off each other...but the Duralast 49 DL is one of the private brand batteiries mfg'd by Johnson Controls...which mfg's private label battery brands for Wal-Mart, Advance Auto, AutoZone, Pep Boys, and Sears...and they also mfg these other well know brand names, too:
Optima
Varta
Heliar
LTH
Douglas used to be the mfg of the BMW labeled replacement batteries for the USA replacement battery...but Douglas was acquired by Exide and they now mfg the BMW branded batteries for this market. Exide aslo mfgs the Werker 95R battery (sold by Batteries Plus) which is another battery that can be used as a replacement for the more expensive BMW branded battery from the dealer.

i,ve used interstate 85 mouth warranty since i got the car and have only bought one batt. Usally the car eats one every 3 years so i just take the old one in an they give me a free one.
Duralast 49 DL around $70 at Autozoned, 2 year replacement and 7 year pro-rated warranty

Slightly, slightly OT but...where can I find one for a ? Costco/Kragen no longer carries them. I was dreading the dealer.
I noticed in Costco today they stock a Group 48 battery which is the same as a 49, but slightly shorter (11 inches instead of 14 or so) and 700cca instead of 800. Given these engines are not that big, it should be more than adequate.
