Decided to drain and refill the auto trans fluid on my 94' 530iA - thought some of you may be interested in a couple pics.
I drained and refilled the fluid 5 times before dropping the pan to replace the filter. Approximately 3 quarts came out each time except for the last when a little over 4 quarts came out when I dropped the pan.
I ordered the ZF trans filter kit from Kirt Koeller. The pump I used wasn't the most efficient, but it worked. The 1/4" copper tubing (leftover icemaker tubing) at the end allowed me to insert the end into the fill hole without having to hold it there while I pumped in the new fluid (see pic).
Got the Dexron III at Sam's club for under a buck a quart.
Car has 118,850 miles, and I don't know if it's ever been done before. I guess it was a gamble either way. So far so good - I'll post an update if things change.
