I recently asked about putting a 2.5 engine in to replace a v8, but now realise it isn't practical.
The car i'm looking at is a 94 530 which needs the engine replacing deue to nikasil problem
My question now is, can I fit an engine from a 730, particularly if I get a pre 93 model where the nikasil issue won't be a problem: Will this be a straightforward swap?

uhhh I think the V8 was only available in 94-95 in the 3 litre option.
What is the reason that the engine is bad? Besides Nikasil that is, I like the smell of them in the morning, like a breath of fresh air.
if your looking at a car that needs a new engine due to PROPER diagnosis IE: leakdown testing at TDC (less than 15%) and visual observation of the tops of the cylinders you must be getting about 4-5000 off so that makes it a buy at about 2000-2500 bux.

Thnaks for your reply.
Think perhaps I'm going to leave this one - the already high fuel prices in the uk are increasing so I'm going to stick with my original desire of a 525.
With regards to the engine I've seen 730s around '92 with v8 engines, which I presume is the same m60 but without the nikasil liners.
out of interest this is the car:
