Hi all

I've found the engine oil filter housing is loose on my 90 525iA. The 32mm hollow bolt is loose and I've tightened it up, but want to know what the torque should be on it. I can't find it in the TIS or E34 repair manual or Bentley.

Does anyone know what it should be?

Cheers

Can't find it the Haynes either.
~20 lb/ft I'd guess.

Closest I could find is 22 NM for an M8 bolt. 40 NM for and M20 x 1.5(hollow??).

EDIT: these are for "Oil filter housing and lies on crankcase" from BMW Torque Specs.

There is another "oil line for camshaft lubrication on cylinder head" which shows two hollow bolts. M5 = 5 NM. M8 x 1 = 10 NM.

OOOops, M5 and M8 are not likely a 32mm head.

Can you tell I don't have an M20? ;)

Thanks for the replies. I found the 40Nm for the M20 x1.5 in the E34 repair manual too, but wasn't sure if it was it. The hollow bolt is probably pretty close to M20 size, so I think I will just go with 40Nm and see how it holds up.
