So, BMW still supports E34's with replacement parts, correct? That means, if you had the cash to spare, you could order all the parts for one of the E34 versions and build it brand new, right? Any feedback on this?

EDIT: Oh wait, chassis? They probably dont sell THOSE anymore. But i guess you could get that off any parted e34 and build everything else around it.

To build a car totally from new spare parts could cost anything from ten to fifty times the cost of buying a new factory assembled vehicle from a dealer.

I'd just take my car reinforce the chassis and see about new body panels as mine are littered with dings and of course a respray

Some parts have been discontinued... The hard fuel lines for example which i think is wrong. However you oculd replicate these without too much of a problem.

I'd just buy a Alpina B10 biturbo that's been sitting in someone's shed all its life, and just replace all the rubber bits (hoses, joint boots and the like).

Actually speaking of B10's I saw one in my town a short while ago I think it was bronzitbeige or whatever you call that gold. I drove past and did a double take I practically stopped right in the middle of the road:p

This is how all homegrown turbo setups end up. That sucks :( Oh well. At least the tow truck is turbo'd.

Interesting - my connecting rods always stay attached to the parts they connect... and inside the physical constraint that is my engine :)

If a new E34 is worth the price of a small home to you, go for it.
Not only cost prohibitive but BMW has begun "outsourcing" some replacement part manufacturing for the older cars. My last BMW logo windshield is made in Columbia. So it may end up a reproduction and not a true "German" E34.
