Radio code without serial number info?

Does anyone know how to find the radio serial number if the tag is missing. I bought a radio - cheap - from ebay hoping to use the display section to replace mine. Alas, the display module from this (Pioneer, I think) unit is different from my unit. There is no S/N tag on the case although I can see where a paper tag was on top at one time. I have torn apart the unit and cannot find the serial number anywhere. I need this to get the code. The unit is pen marked 94 318i.

Does anyone know where it might be or do I have another BMW paperweight?

Pretty sure you are SOL w/o a serial#.
Try 35561 thats was the # for two different cars I've had so must have been a popular combination
