I need help on how to move the drive shaft by hand I am replacing the center bearing and I can't access the bolts without rotating the drive shaft. I put it in neutral and I can't rotate it. should I jack up the rear end and put it in drive and rotate the engine?
The driveshaft won't turn unless the wheels can too. Wheels up, trans in neutral.

Yes you should raise the rear wheels, so their not touching the ground.
Leave it in neutral.
Just remember, when you lower the car put the hand-brake on so the car won't roll.
Good luck.

thanks
Also, you may find it easier to loosen the bolts by actually placing the car in park/gear, loosening a bolt, going back to neutral and rotating to the next one. Those bolts can be pretty tight. HTH

Jack up wheel and get a mate (or even 'er indoors) to turn it so the prop moves to the position you want it so you can get at the bolts. Then have them pop it in gear to lock it. Saves you getting up and down like a yo-yo:)
