E-28 radio fit in an E-34?

My radio just went up in smoke. I have an old radio I pulled out of my a e-28 535is I had a number of years ago. Anyone know if this radio will work in my current 540? Cheers

I know the connectors are different between the E28, earlyE34s and the later E34s, including the 540s.
I would think it will physically fit into any DIN slot but will require some rewiring. Having the connectors from the E28 would be helpful.

it'll fit but it will only plug into 89-90 cars 91 had a big square multiplug, you could get a aftermarket radio adaptor plug and use that to plug into the 91 and up plug if you don't want to butcher the wiring harness (should be availible in the 10-15 range online)

What you need is a reverse radio harness for BMW. You can get them at Best Buy.
