thanx in advance for any posts
You may find that some of the wires in the loom running into the boot (trunk!) lid have broken where they meet the hinge. All the opening and closing of the boot (trunk!!) will, over time, damage and potentially break the wires causing problems like you describe.
Its reasonably easy to splice in new wires. I replaced all of them, 19 in total I think, to avoid future problems and create a longer more forgiving "hinge" for the loom. But you could just replace the broken wire.
Hope that helps!
Sam :)
